NHL COMPARABLE: Steve Sullivan (in his prime)

UPSIDE: 2nd Line Offensive Forward or Bust

“Vladdy Hockey” (a play on Johnny Gaudreau’s nickname of “Johnny Hockey”) as he acquired that nickname this past season, is a player I just love. It’s pretty impressive to see a kid his size play the way that he does and actually control and dictate play as much as he does during games. He’s got tons of skill and is a fearless competitor. I don’t usually advocate using a high pick on 19-20 year olds and I really doubt he gets picked before the 3rd round but this guy could be a gamble that pays off in spades. He will likely require more time than the average prospect and will need to put on some weight and gain some strength but if this kid can stay healthy, he’s got a really good shot at making the NHL and being a pretty good player as well. My comparable is Steve Sullivan and I think it’s a good one in the sense that it took Sullivan some time to work his way into an NHL lineup and given top-6 responsibilities but when he did, he ended up carving a really nice career for himself.
