NHL COMPARABLE : David Backes
POTENTIAL : Top-9 Two-way Forward
CEILING: 2nd Line C
FLOOR: 3rd Line C

Michael McLeod is a really good prospect and there is a lot to like about the way this kid plays the game. I’m not really convinced that his offensive game translates over to the pros but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t still a lot of value there. My comparable for him is David Backes but I think it would be a bit of a stretch for him to end up as good as that but it’s possible. He’s a tremendously hard worker with above average defensive awareness. If his offense ever catches up and he’s able to put everything together then the team that selects him is going to have one hell of a player.

In all likelihood, he’ll end up a solid, contributing 3rd line center and those players are important as well. For me, I think having an outside shot at a top-6 forward slot with the high floor of a top-9 guy, that’s where the value is.
