COMPARABLE : Mikael Backlund
UPSIDE : Top-6 Offensive Forward
FLOOR : Top-9 Offensive Forward

I think when you’re looking at a player like Lias Andersson, you have to like what you see. I’m not really 100% convinced that whichever teams that selects him is going to be getting a huge ‘steal’ by taking him in the first round but I think he’s a solid selection and that adding a talented player that can play on your 2nd or 3rd line is what most teams would be looking at. The things that stand out for me are most obviously his speed, his puck control and his all-around smarts. He may not be the biggest player but he’s got a stocky build and he doesn’t shy away from the corners…the physical game isn’t going to faze him.

My comparable for him is Mikael Backlund because that’s who he reminds me of…a pretty good all-around player. I think Lias Andersson is the type of player that can play anywhere in your top-9 and that’s where the value is for me near the later part of the first round.
