When you play on the worst team in the WHL, I think there is a tendency that you might get overlooked and sometimes it’s tough to look good. Hayden Fleury’s little brother Cale didn’t have much help this season. I think the Kootenay Ice captain is one of the most underrated players in this year’s draft. He’s definitely one of my favourites and the type of player I’d want on my team.

He’s a fluid skater and moves the puck very well, he’s got excellent offensive and defensive awareness. He’s a strong two-way player with good anticipation and an excellent passer. He works hard and gives a consistent second effort. For me, he’s the type of player that the more I watch him play, the more I like him.

My comparable for him is Matt Dumba and I see him as that type of player. Just like with Dumba, it’s going to take some development time for him to get to where he needs to be but I think he’ll get there. In fact, I’ll be really surprised if this guy doesn’t become a really good player.

I expect Fleury to be taken somewhere in the second round but some smart team will jump on him early.
