COMPARABLE : Johnny Gaudreau
UPSIDE : Top-6 Playmaking Forward

Probably the most underrated prospect in this years’ draft. This is how Johnny Gaudreau becomes a 4th round pick and Sebastian Aho only a 2nd round pick. If scouts have seen the same thing that I have with this player then he’s a late 1st round pick and anything after that is a steal, in my opinion.

Evan Barratt has upper-level vision, anticipation and hockey sense…this kid makes things happen on the ice by making great reads and using his teammates effectively. He doesn’t shy away from physical play though that’s not really his game. Barratt is set to play for Penn State University starting this fall but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up changing his mind and heading over to Flint (OHL) who own his rights. It could be a better option, developmentally speaking for this player.

He’s one of my favourites and I think he’s going to end up being a player. My comparable for him is Johnny Gaudreau because they share outstanding vision, creativity and playmaking ability though I don’t expect Barratt to reach that level.

Do not expect this player to make an early jump to the NHL, I believe he is likely 3-4 years away and will need that development time.
