COMPARABLE : Radim Vrbata
UPSIDE : 2nd Line Goal-Scoring RW
FLOOR : 3rd Line Goal-Scoring RW

After being drafted 1st overall in the WHL by Brandon back in to 2014, expectations were sky high for Mattheos. I think he probalby had some trouble living up to that billing but I feel like he had a strong draft eligible year. I’m a big fan of the way this player sees the ice and plays the game and some of the skills he has you just can’t teach, like natural goal-scoring ability. Mattheos plays the game with a ton of intensity and has a strong work ethic. A solid all-around player with an excellent shot.

My comparable for him is Radim Vrbata and when you think about the way he can score goals, I think that’s appropriate. It took Vrbata some time to learn to become a better defensive player earlier on in his career and I think I could easily see Mattheos taking the same kind of path.

I think he’ll be a pretty good pick if it’s late 1st round and anything beyond the middle of the 2nd round is likely a steal.
