Ivan Kosorenkov probably made a wise decision in coming over and playing this past season in the QMJHL for Victoriaville. I think it gave him exposure that he may not have gotten otherwise. He had a pretty good first year in North America too, notching 34 goals and 63 points in 68 games.

Kosorenkov is an excellent skater with an explosive first few steps that gives him an edge against his competition. He has very good straight-away speed as well. He’s a creative player and an excellent playmaker. What impressed me the most is the consistent effort that I saw him give every shift that I saw him play. For me that goes a long way.

He kind of reminds me of Sven Baertschi and I could see him take a while to continually keep getting better and better. He’s a 19 year old but I love his skillset so I think he’s a good pick late in the 3rd round.
