Phil Kemp is the kind of player you just don’t notice much but that’s not necessarily a bad thing…it means he’s doing his job. Kemp has ideal size and has good defensive awareness. He’ll never really wow you with anything that he does but he plays a safe and steady game.

He has a good first outlet pass. I don’t think we’re looking at Top-4 upside here with this guy but Kemp could end up a solid bottom pairing defensive d-man. He will absolutely need to improve his skating to get to the next level and he can do that next year at Yale as he continues his development.

A good gamble for a 4th + round pick.
