COMPARABLE : David Krejci
UPSIDE : 2nd Line Two-Way Center
FLOOR : 3rd Line Two-Way Center
Another one of my favourites from this year’s draft, I absolutely love this player. He is really underrated and I’m not exactly sure why. In all of the viewings that I’ve had, he’s just looked like an incredibly smart, defensively responsible, dangerous offensive center who can see the ice extremely well.
I guess this is how guys like David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron become second round picks? I can’t speak for others and what they see but I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that Robert Thomas is going to be a very, very good NHL player. He’s got really good compete, is a strong skater, excellent playmaker, has a good, hard and deceptive shot but what stands out most for me, is his offensive awareness and defensive awareness are both really, really high. My comparable for him is David Krejci and I find they have a similar style and they are about the same size.
My expectations are that Robert Thomas ends up a really good 2nd line center in the NHL and that’s the reason why I have him ranked so highly.
