Shane Bowers Scouting Report:
This is my scouting report on Waterloo center Shane Bowers. I think I probably like Bowers more than most and I think he’s maybe a little underrated. Maybe it’s because his skating stride reminds me of Joe Sakic in the way he flies around the ice (in terms of style). I think that it’s probably more the even and consistent effort that I saw from him each and every shift that I saw. Bowers is a quick and elusive player with deceptive speed and excellent acceleration. He’s a good playmaker who is dangerous off the rush. He doesn’t shy away from physical play but doesn’t go out of his way to engage either. He’s a bit on the smaller size now but he should reach a more ideal playing weight of 190-195 lbs as he matures and develops.
My comparable for him is Robbi Fabbri, a player that I personally underrated his draft year… I think it’s a solid comparison since Fabbri ended up getting drafted 21st by St-Louis and this is right around where Bowers is ranked by the concensus. I think he should go a bit higher than that personally, really impressed with this kid.
