#3 – Jesse Puljujarvi, RW – Karpat, SM-liiga

TSN – #3
Central Scouting – #3 ES
ISS – #3
Craig Button – #3
McKeens – #3
THN – #3

NHL COMPARABLE : Blake Wheeler
CEILING: 1st Line RW
FLOOR: 2nd Line RW

For me, Puljujarvi is the obvious choice as the 3rd overall pick but I have more distance between him and Laine & Matthews than I do with Jost at #4. I really like Puljujarvi’s skill set, he does a ton extremely well though I wouldn’t put him in the ‘franchise’ category.

I think he’s got top line player potential for sure. He’s big, he skates extremely well, shoots the puck like a champ, is a great passer, makes great reads and on and on and on. I think the big difference for Puljujarvi will be which team selects him. If he goes to a team that’s already got a lot of top-end talent and he plays with really good playmakers, he’s going to make a lot of noise right away. If he goes to a team that doesn’t have a lot of that talent in place already, I think it will take more time for him to make his mark. Obviously, the ideal situation for him would be a team who plays a fast game that’s top heavy in talent.

Regardless of where he ends up, Puljujarvi is going to fill the net at some point, there is too much raw talent there for him not to be a really good NHLer for a long time.
