In my opinion, this is a really underrated player. Dmitri Samorukov has ideal size and he’s a good skater who controls the puck well. He plays a steady and dependable game. He makes a good first outlet pass, has a tendency to make the safe play instead of trying low percentage plays and he is also a player that can log a lot of minutes.
He already has a solid first year in North America under his belt playing for Guelph in the OHL. I was impressed with his game at the U18 tournament…he was relied upon heavily by Russia to log a lot of minutes and I think he could be a steal in the 3rd + rounds.
My comparable for him is Brian Dumoulin and I think he’s got a shot at becoming an unheralded but important part of a team. One of my favourites in this year’s draft.
