COMPARABLE : Jon Merrill
UPSIDE : Bottom Pairing Defensive D-Man
FLOOR : #7 Depth Defender

Max Gildon was leaned on heavily and fared quite well at the U18 tournament for Team USA where that team won gold…again. He actually scored a hat trick against the Czech Republic but if I was a betting man, I’d say that’s probably the last hat trick he’ll ever score. I just don’t see the offense translating to the next level with this player. Nevertheless, he’s a player with great size who is a good skater (but could probably use some improvement on that end) and he’s probably a guy who will end up a solid defensive d-man when it’s all said and done.

My comparable for him is Jon Merrill and I can see him develop into that kind of defenseman after 2-3 years development for the University of New Hampshire and probably a couple in the AHL as well. I think his potential is probably a bottom pairing d-man who takes care of his own end. A solid pick-up as a 3rd round pick.
